Not to make anyone jealous, but living in Oslo has its advantages. For example when people tell you about unannounced concerts where you should just drop by. Well, why not, I thought, found myself a Canadian concert partner for the evening and went to what I thought would be a short Skambankt concert on somebody’s birthday.

7.3.2006 Kaizers Orchestra (Kampen Bistro, Oslo)
Tuesday, March 7th, 20064.3.2006 Skambankt (John Dee, Oslo )
Saturday, March 4th, 2006There seems to be some kind of curse on Skambankt concerts. At least if I want to go there… last year, the concert was moved to another date on very short notice. This year, the day before the concert, Germany drowned in snow… which wouldn’t have been a problem, if it hadn’t been a Friday with the streets crammed with stupid Dutchmen (sorry Dissident *g*) with summer tires. Argh. So it took me about eight hours to get to the airport, instead of two and a half as normal… But well, luckily I’m paranoid enough to not leave just in time for the plane, so I didn’t miss my plane but just several hours of sleep. And as we all know, sleeping is for dead people anyway… =;-)

29.1.2006 Cloroform (Nachtleben, Frankfurt )
Sunday, January 29th, 2006loroform are on tour in Germany. Or maybe I should rather call it a tour in “southern Sweden”? Hey, there’s more of Germany south of Frankfurt! *grr* But I shouldn’t complain, it could have been worse, and I’m just trying to convince myself that Frankfurt is almost on the way from my parents’ place to where I live in the south, so well. Okay, my car claims to have done a lot of kilometers this weekend, but this MUST be wrong. *gg*

18.11.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Rockefeller, Oslo )
Friday, November 18th, 2005The next day was completely chaotic and annoying, but well, no wonder – the day before went too perfectly, so that today everything had to go wrong, of course. But not everything went wrong, and in the end we had almost everything we wanted. And definitely everything we needed. Thus it was perfect.

17.11.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Rockefeller, Oslo )
Thursday, November 17th, 2005My last concerts of this tour, the “big finale” so to say, were two concerts in Oslo in Rockefeller. I must admit that I was just a wee bit sceptical about that – I mean, I’ve seen this show often enough now, and as the Rockefeller concerts were not the last concerts of the tour (only MY last concerts), I didn’t expect any suprises. Actually, there were no surprises – except for the fact that those concerts were among the best I’ve ever seen, and well, Kaizers are just the very very best band live!

15.11.2005 Universal Open Mic (Fannz Club, Berlin)
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005OK, so Skambankt are coming to Germany, wow! On a weekday. To Berlin. But well – if I can go to Norway for concerts, I just HAVE to see the concert in Germany, right? Sadly I didn’t have any vacation left… but hey, what could possibly be more “punk” than getting on a plane directly after work, flying to Berlin, seeing a concert, sleeping on the floor, getting back on the plane veeeeery early the next morning and going directly back to work? =;-)

6.10.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Vega, Kopenhagen)
Thursday, October 6th, 2005During the next day I did some more sightseeing – but somehow I wasn’t that impressed. Maybe because I walked around fairly aimlessly ’cause I had no idea about what to visit in Copenhagen? Or maybe I was just too tired? Or maybe Copenhagen is not really the most interesting city to visit? I don’t know, but it didn’t matter, I was not bored, and at night we went back to Vega. This time up to the gallery, ’cause I didn’t really want to go through all the pushing and sweating down in the front again – and also, ’cause I finally wanted to SEE what happens in the audience when Killmaster runs through the crowd and the Jackal jumps and so on. *g*

5.10.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Vega, Kopenhagen)
Wednesday, October 5th, 2005So, at the end of the tour (for me) two concert in Copenhagen – yeah! You just gotta experience the Danish audience once, or so I was told. *g* Getting there in the Kaizermobil, then a litte speed-sightseeing, then to the Vega. There I was completely surprised, I had expected something different, like people getting in line hours before the concert and a huge crowd in front of the place half an hour before the doors opened. OK, there were some people there, but not nearly as many as I would have expected. Which was good for us, of course. *g*

4.10.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Modernes, Bremen)
Tuesday, October 4th, 2005OK, at some point in time there had to be a “stupid” concert. And today was the day – but it definitely wasn’t due to the band. They were giving all they had, as always, and the concert could have been one of my greatest shows. If the audience had been interested in what was happening on stage… but nobody cared. This was already obvious during Geoff Berner’s performance. I was in second row, and behind me – nothing. OK, maybe 10-20 people were standing there, but all the other people in the audience were sitting somewhere in the back, out of sight. Terrible! At least there were some “hardcore-fans” there, so we could do something to heat up the atmosphere (we even managed to get the first row to clap along, ain’t that great? *argh*), but the rest of the audience consisted of the worst and most boring people I’ve ever seen, at a concert, at least. If someone feels offended by that – good, this is exactly what I wanna say. *grr*

3.10.2005 Kaizers Orchestra (Tivoli, Utrecht)
Monday, October 3rd, 2005The night in Utrecht started in a funny way – we had no idea where to go. OK, we had a street name, but Utrecht isn’t THAT small… So we were just going the way we thought should be about right, we only had a tiny map with very few street names on it, and soon we were completely lost. I stop by the side of the road to take my own look at the map and realize that we were exactly in the street we were looking for! And exactly in front of the house we were looking for. And just standing on a parking spot anyway. Unbelievable. *gg*
